Firstly, let’s take a look at how digital adoption has accelerated over the past year. The number of social media users worldwide has increased by more than 10% since this time last year, with the latest data showing that there are on average more than one million new social media users every day

Data shows that social media are gaining more than 1 million new social media users every day. That means people are using social media to share their lives, their experiences and their passions. It shows that people are integrating connected technology into more and more aspects of their lives in daily and everyday. There’s no surprise that people are spending so much time online and using their mobile phones to control almost everything in our lives, just look at what we are doing on our phones. It quickly becomes apparent that virtually no part of our lives is left untouched by connected technology.

However , the data also shows that since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, people have spent even more time online, especially during the lockdowns. What were you doing online during the lockdown? I spent many hours a day on social media and messenger platforms, and of course a lot of time on streaming platforms. The survey shows that more than half of people were doing the same as me, suggesting that streaming content and social media should see the biggest and most persistent rise in activity. What’s interesting is the fact that many of us expect to continue these new behaviors long after the pandemic is over, and that the role of digital in our lives will only continue to expand, both for users and for brands.
